Katholiko Monastery of St. John the Hermit

This painting was created from a photo that I took on a hike in Crete on the Akrotiri Peninsula. We drove up a very sketchy, windy road with wild goats hanging out to a more modern monastery. Then there was a walk down a very long, man made, stone path to these other stone structures and caves. This monastery dated to the early 1600’s, but many think it was built earlier than that, but was abandoned when pirates attacked.

8”x10” on 3/4” Panel. The sides are painted Jaune Brilliant.

The backside frame of the interior can be held with a nail or screw. Better yet, use two nails or screws, leveled horizontally for perfect, easy hanging.
